1 New Zealand was once governed as part of the territory of New South Wales and later a part of Australia. MY opinion about this is I think that Australia thinks that we are part of it and it wants every thing to be the same. But New Zealand Is a independent country. New Zealanders should be in charge of there own land and people.
2 New Zealanders love cars with 2.5 million cars for 4 million people making them one of the countries to have the highest car ownership rate in the world.
I think that this is not a good trait to have, because this means loads of pollution will occur. At the moment globule warming is getting worse. If it was electric cars this would be good.
3 There are no snakes in the country. This is the best thing ever because snakes are very bad and they can kill people. 1 in 50 million people die from snake bites and 37,500 people a year are bitten (in the U . S)which is a lot of pain from people. I am scared to death of snakes, so its good we don't have them in new Zealand.
Kia ora Joshua,
ReplyDeleteMy name is Rachel and I am a member of the Summer Learning Journey(SLJ) blogging team this year. I have the opportunity to work with Megan and Cia as a commenter for the SLJ and I feel so lucky to be able to read great posts like yours! I learned so much about New Zealand that I didn't know before reading your blog. For instance, I had not idea that there were no snakes in New Zealand at all. I always suspected that there were at least a couple of snakes but I am very relieved to read that we are snake-free here in NZ.
I was originally born and raised in Canada so I am aware of the dangers of some animals, such as polar bears and wolves. Have you ever seen a polar bear or a wolf? When I was younger I went to the zoo in Toronto (the biggest city in Canada) and watched a family of polar bears playing together. They were quite funny to watch as they liked to play fight with one another and chase each other around!
I hope that you have the chance to see a polar bear one day. I also hope that you will continue to post such great work on your blog. Just two posts a week can make a really big difference when it comes to learning over summer. Megan, Cia and I will look out for your posts and hope that you continue to share, at least, two posts a week throughout the whole summer break!
See you online :)
Rachel
Thank's for your comment,I would like to see a polar bear some day.
ReplyDeleteHi Joshua,
ReplyDeleteI really hope that you are able to see one, one day soon. I checked the Auckland Zoo website and they don't have a polar bear. I suspect that they aren't able to house one because it isn't cold enough here in Auckland. Most polar bears like to live in freezing cold, snowy conditions. In fact, most Canadian polar bears live in the Arctic (a region in northern Canada that is covered in ice and snow). Most of the polar bears live in the snow and hunt for food by sitting on shelves of ice.
These days the ice shelves are starting to melt and many of the polar bears are struggling to find food. They are also struggling with warmer conditions (caused by climate change) that create flooding as the ice and snow melts to form water. It's pretty worrisome...
Hopefully we will come up with a solution to climate change and the polar bears can continue to live happily in the northern arctic regions. Would you like to go to the Arctic one day? I'm not sure that the idea of travelling thousands of kilometres to walk through tons of snow and ice really appeals to me. What about you?
Bye for now,
Rachel :)
P.S. If you want to read more about polar bears in northern Canada, feel free to follow this link: https://www.ecowatch.com/polar-bear-climate-change-2015949690.html
I would love to go to the arctic they are so many animals there. I love the feeling of snow but most of the time I probably won't walk. Instead I would taking the sled with arctic husky's pulling me.
ReplyDeletenot enough people are putting effort into climate change so it is just getting worse. thanks for the website will check it soon.
Hi Joshua,
DeleteI think that you would love the Arctic. I actually grew up with a husky dog for a pet. Her name was Tundra and she was beautiful! Do you have a pet at your house?
I also worry about the impact that global warming and climate change will have on our planet. I really hope that we are able to do something significant to reverse the effects and ensure that we keep our planet healthy and able to function well for centuries to come!
All the best,
Rachel
I had a pet 6 months ago but he died he was 6 or 7 cat years old. thanks from joshua
ReplyDeleteHi Joshua,
DeleteI'm really sorry to hear that. We have a cat at our house named Jackson. We think that he is about 10 years old but we're not completely sure because we adopted him from the local SPCA. They found him living in a carpark and weren't sure how long he had been there. He's a pretty cool cat but he wakes us up every morning at 6:00 a.m. (which we don't really enjoy)!
Cheers, Rachel
