  1. Hi Joshua,

It's Leslie here, reading your blog from my home in wintry Canada, a member of the Summer Learning Journey team.

What a good idea is was for you to show your work in progress on a video, attached to this blog posting! Do you enjoy solving maths problems? They're kind of fun, aren't they?

I agree with your answers that 20 adults would get the job done and that 33 children would (probably) get the job done of lifting a 500 kg. squid. The capabilities of 33 children is just a bit shy of the weight (495 kg) but it's probably true that, working together, the children's strength is greater than it would be on an individual basis. So, good for you in solving this problem!!

I hope you don't have to worry about lifting a squid while you're on summer holiday! And I hope that I never have to worry about lifting a squid. I think that would be kind of a slimy job!

I live in-land so, although we are surrounded by lakes and rivers in Ontario, Canada, we don't have squid in our waterways. We have fish and other mammals and reptiles that live along the shores, but no squid.

What an amazing world we live in - so diverse and so very interesting! I hope you're finding the Summer Learning Journey activities interesting. I've learned quite a bit myself!!

    Keep up your great work.

    Cheers,

    Leslie
